in Dunkeld Cathedral was a resounding success raising over £800.
Heather I. McLean, Director of The Parish of Dunkeld Handbell Ringers and one of the country's few Handbell Soloists, performed what is thought to be the UK's first Solo Marathon. In front of a large, enthusiastic audience Heather took 2 hours 35 minutes to ring 38 pieces of music, exceeding her target of 35.
The marathon was to assist in the cost of transporting the group's equipment on tour to Oban and the Islands of mull and Iona.
The surplus, after transporting the equipment, was donated to the three charities due to benefit from concerts on tour. The total amount shared between Cancer Macmillan Support, The Royal National Lifeboat Institution and Oban Church Development Fund amounted to £1028
Since its formation in 2002 the group has donated an average of £1000each year to various charities.
